Noticing dust around a vent or a change in airflow? Those observations can help you describe a concern, but they do not automatically mean your air ducts need cleaning or replacement. Here is what to note before requesting help for your Las Vegas or North Las Vegas home.
Four things to note before calling
- Dust or debris coming from a supply vent. Note which room is affected and whether particles appear when the system runs. A dusty return grille alone is not proof that the whole duct system needs cleaning.
- A new or persistent noise. Describe where you hear it and when it happens. Ask for an assessment rather than assuming duct cleaning will resolve the noise.
- A noticeable change in airflow. Explain whether it affects one room or several. Air coming from an operating supply vent is expected; the useful detail is what has changed.
- An unexpected change in energy use. Keep the dates and bills available, but do not treat a higher bill alone as a diagnosis of dirty ducts or a promise that cleaning will lower costs.
Does visible dust mean the ducts need cleaning?
Not always. The EPA’s guidance on air duct cleaning explains that return registers can become dusty during normal use and recommends evaluating cleaning on an as-needed basis. Ask what was found inside the system and which components the proposed work would cover.
What to include in an estimate request
Tell us your ZIP code, the rooms affected, when you first noticed the issue, and whether there has been recent renovation work. If you already have photos, mention that when contacting us.
